thanks for the response, however i have a phoenix bios, and have no idea of how to reset it, there is nothing showing in the bios to do so. As far as setting the jumper, the old hard drive had no jumpers and by default, they are sent with none. They are primarily set as master from the factory and they do not recommend you change it by installing a jumper.Just and added bonus, there is nothing in my bios to set up auto detect either. I might also add, that this is a laptop.
